The Virginia Egg Council is donating 40 cases of fresh Virginia eggs to the Federation of Virginia Food Banks on behalf of Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne Youngkin. Dutt & Wagner of Virginia, located in Abingdon, provided the egg donation, and transported 20 cases of eggs to Feed More in Richmond and to Feeding Southwest Virginia in Abingdon.
“Thank you to the Virginia Egg Council and Dutt & Wagner for their generosity. This donation embodies the Virginia spirit and shows their dedication to Communities in need across the Commonwealth. I would also like to thank all of Virginia’s egg producers for harvesting nutritious eggs that feed consumers in the Commonwealth and across the nation,” said Matthew Lohr, Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry.
“We are extremely pleased to donate these eggs on behalf of the Governor and First Lady to food banks in Richmond and Abingdon. We are honored to be able to provide this nutritious, protein source for families in these areas,” said Lake Wagner, Owner and Operator of Dutt & Wagner and President of the Virginia Egg Council.
“Eggs continue to be a high demand item for families in need throughout the Commonwealth. The Federation of Virginia Food Banks would like to thank the Virginia Egg Council and Dutt & Wagner for this very generous donation,” said Eddie Oliver, Executive Director of the Federation of Virginia Food Banks.
The donation of 40 cases of eggs will provide 600 families in the Richmond and Abingdon areas with a dozen eggs each. In addition to the eggs, the Virginia Egg Council included a Paas Easter Egg decorating and dying kit, an “egg-cellent” spatula, and a recipe and nutrition guide for each family.
In addition to the egg donation to the food banks, the Virginia Egg Council, in partnership with Eggland’s Best, donated 100 vouchers for a free dozen eggs to the families of the medical staff at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
