Virginia's Finest Trademark Program

Virginia's Finest logo.Introduced in 1989, The Virginia's Finest Trademark Program was developed to identify, differentiate and promote top quality Virginia-produced and processed agricultural products. Since it began, the program has grown to more than 500 participating agricultural, food and beverage companies.

Fresh produce, specialty foods, hams, peanuts, wine, potted plants and Christmas trees are just a few examples of the program's diversity. You'll find Virginia's Finest food and beverage products in most gift, gourmet and specialty shops and in grocery stores. Virginia's Finest produce and nursery products are available at selected nurseries, greenhouses, orchards and farms. Many Virginia ABC stores carry Virginia's Finest wines and liquors.

Virginia's Finest participants are easily identified by the familiar red and blue "checkmark." The trademark may appear on product packaging, in advertising efforts or as part of point-of-sale signage.

Participation in the quality-based trademark program is voluntary and open to all Virginia agricultural producers and food processors that consistently meet specific quality standards. There is no charge to participate in the program.

Quality standards used in the program are established by industries, agricultural groups and similar representatives and are approved by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

A two-step procedure for participation involves the development of industry standards and certification. Processed foods are approved by a special committee.
