Export Certification

From house plants moving to Florida to shipping containers of logs and lumber sailing overseas, OPIS personnel inspect and certify many types of plant products for export. Produce, seeds, trees and shrubs, flowering bulbs and rhizomes, and many other unprocessed plant products may require a phytosanitary inspection certificate before leaving Virginia to satisfy the import requirements of the destination state or country.

Refer to the USDA Plant Quarantine Summaries for information on exporting plants or plant products from Virginia to other states. An inspector can help you determine if your plant commodity needs a phytosanitary inspection certificate for export to other countries and can schedule an inspection if necessary.

To set up an inspection with a VDACS inspector or for answers to further questions, including associated fees, contact your Regional OPIS office.
