FIRESAFE CIGARETTE CERTIFICATION
Effective January 1, 2010, cigarette manufactures shall submit to the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) certification that their cigarettes, when applicable, meet the certification requirements of §59.1-293.1 et seq., Code of Virginia, regarding reduced ignition propensity.
VDACS is in the process of activating an on-line filing system to facilitate the electronic submission of information and payment of the fee required by the statute. We believe that this system will greatly reduce your paperwork and compliance burden. More information about the on-line filing system will be available in the near future.
If you wish to receive status updates, please send us your contact information via e-mail at firesafecigarettes@vdacs.virginia.gov, taking care to include your name, the name of the company you represent, telephone number, e-mail address, and conventional mailing address.
